What are my values?
I am honoured to witness & gently support the metamorphosis a women will undergo throughout pregnancy birth & beyond as she not only brings life into this world, but also rebirths herself as a mother
I am a warrior for physiological birth & for women to reclaim their birthing power & their innate ability to trust the wisdom of her body in a birthing environment where she feels safe and supported.
I am equally motivated to empower partners in the birth space to feel secure in their support, & understanding the significance of their presence in the birthing woman’s overall experience.
How did I arrive here?
I connected unexpectedly with a beautiful doula half way through pregnancy. Our meeting felt significant, and although previously determined that myself & my partner could ‘manage the birth ourselves’, meeting this doula brought a kind of magic I could not ignore. I intutively knew I wanted her at my birth, this meeting was not just chance.
I eventually woke to the potent idea that it wasn’t just about ‘managing the birth’ it was about making it an emotionally supported, empowered and sacred experience of birth and to safe guard this opportunity of an expansive rite of passage, rather than just ‘getting through it.’
Building a close, safe relationship with our doula, allowed me to explore and strip back the layers & conditioning to find my vision of how I wanted to birth. I was able to make informed choices that were truly mine. With her presence & support I was able to explore & reclaim my birthing power and really experience the sacredness & transformation birth can be when respected & held safely.
So moved by my positive experience of birth & the support of the beautiful women working in this space, I realised that so many women miss out on the opportunity to experience the sacredness of birth and feel unsupported, unheard & disempowered in their care. I decided I wanted to be able to gift that safety, belief, support & kindness to other birthing woman, allowing her to safely transition from maiden to mother with power & trust in herself. Witnessing an holding a woman through this metamorphasis fills my heart with deep purpose and awe.
